Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Voodoo Motorworks (trading as LOA HEX) for use of loahex.app and the related ECU tuning service.

We’ve kept the language plain. Where specific legal terms are needed, they’re defined in section 2. If anything in here is unclear, email support@loahex.app and we’ll explain it in normal English.

1. Who we are

LOA HEX is the trading name of Voodoo Motorworks, a UK business based in England. References to “we”, “us”, or “our” mean Voodoo Motorworks t/a LOA HEX. References to “you” or “your” mean the person or business holding the account.

For anything to do with these terms, contact us at support@loahex.app.

2. Definitions

Service means the LOA HEX ECU file tuning platform at loahex.app, including any subscription tier and any one-off products we offer alongside it.

Customer means you — the account holder.

Tuning File means a modified ECU binary we deliver in response to an upload from you.

Subscription means a recurring monthly plan with a defined file allowance or unlimited usage.

Priority Jump means a one-off £15 charge that moves your file to the front of the manual tuning queue.

Tech Handoff means a tune handled manually by a tuner rather than auto-delivered from the library.

3. Your account

You need an account to use the Service. We use Clerk to handle authentication. You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for everything that happens under your account.

If you think someone else has accessed your account, email support@loahex.app immediately and we’ll lock it while we investigate.

4. Subscriptions and payment

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. You’ll be charged on the same date each month until you cancel. Each tier includes either a fixed number of file credits per month or unlimited tuning, as set out at sign-up. Unused credits don’t roll over.

You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your access and any unused credits until then.

We can change pricing with 30 days’ notice. If you don’t accept a price change, you can cancel without penalty before it takes effect.

The £15 Priority Jump is a one-off charge that moves your active file to the top of the manual queue. It doesn’t guarantee a delivery time — it just means your file is next.

5. The service

We offer two delivery paths. When your ECU file matches one in our internal library, we return a tuned file within minutes — typically under five. When it doesn’t, the file goes to a tuner for a Tech Handoff and is built manually.

We aim for fast turnaround on both paths but we don’t offer a service-level agreement on speed. We use commercially reasonable best efforts and we’ll keep you informed if something is taking longer than usual.

The Service is provided as-is. We may run scheduled maintenance and we reserve the right to take the platform offline temporarily for updates or in response to security incidents.

6. Your responsibilities

When you use LOA HEX, you confirm that you own the vehicle the file came from, or that you have the vehicle owner’s written authority to commission a tune for it.

You’re responsible for using the tuned file lawfully in your jurisdiction. Fitting a tuned file to a road vehicle may need to be disclosed to your insurer, and may affect your insurance cover, your manufacturer warranty, and your MOT outcome. Any emissions-related tunes — DPF, EGR, AdBlue removal, and similar — should only be fitted to vehicles used off-road or on closed circuits where those modifications are legal.

We don’t inspect vehicles or verify ownership. The legal responsibility for what happens to a tuned file once you receive it sits with you, not with us.

7. Intellectual property

You keep ownership of the original ECU binary you upload.

We own the tuned output we produce. When we deliver a Tuning File, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to install and use that file on the specific ECU it was built for. You can’t resell the tuned file, redistribute it, or sub-licence it to anyone else.

8. Refunds and your right to cancel

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you generally have 14 days to change your mind about a digital service.

Once we’ve delivered a Tuning File for an upload, the digital service for that specific delivery has been performed in full. The 14-day right to cancel that particular file is forfeit at the point of delivery — by placing the order you’re asking us to begin work straight away and you accept that the right to cancel that delivery ends when we send the file.

Subscription auto-renewals can still be cancelled in line with section 4. You don’t lose your right to cancel future renewals just because you’ve had a file delivered.

We don’t issue refunds because a tuned file produced less power than you hoped on the dyno. Files are built to spec; outcomes vary with vehicle condition, ambient conditions, fuel quality, and ancillary hardware. If you think a file is incorrectly built — wrong stage, wrong solution, wrong ECU — contact support and we’ll review it and rebuild if we got it wrong.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be excluded under English law.

Subject to that, our total liability to you under or in connection with the Service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.

We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, damage to vehicles or ECUs that occurs during flashing, MOT or insurance consequences, or warranty voidance by your manufacturer. Tuning files invalidate manufacturer warranties as a rule — assume yours will too.

10. Suspension and termination

We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy. Where it’s safe to do so, we’ll give you notice and a chance to put things right first.

You can close your account at any time from settings. If we terminate for breach, fees already paid aren’t refundable.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If a change is material, we’ll let you know by email or in the dashboard at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the new version.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If something goes wrong, please email support@loahex.app first. Most things can be resolved without anyone reaching for a solicitor. If we can’t sort it within 30 days, either of us is free to take it further.
